The economy of Riyadh Province is dominated by the service sector of its capital city, which has grown up to serve as the nation's legislative, administrative, diplomatic, financial and commercial center.
Riyadh city is home to the Government and all it's Ministries and agencies, foreign Embassies, and the main Universities. It also accommodates the headquarters for banks and the country's leading companies.
A significant manufacturing sector has also developed to meet the needs of its large resident population. It also has a large number of factories (871) producing metal, engineering and building materials, together with food, wood and chemical products.
Outside of the city, the province's main resources are its mineral wealth, such as oil, gold, copper and zinc.
Riyadh Province is one of the main agricultural areas in the Kingdom, with 399,000ha producing grain, vegetables and fruit, together with meat, poultry and dairy products. |
