Snorkelling in North Obhur

The Red Sea, named for its dramatic red coral, provides warm, safe and fish-abundant waters for snorkelling, and the pleasant climate is ideal for swimming, sailing and fishing almost all year around

Here is some of the most beautiful natural snorkelling that you'll find anywhere in the world.

North Obhur - There is a large number of fantastic sites which are well-supplied with hotels and resorts. Plenty of non-diving activites are also available, such as golf and jetskiing

Al Bilad Beach - Easy shore diving with some interesting spots on this part of the reef which is at the mouth of Sharm Obhur (The Creek). A favorite among locals.

Al Nakheel - A wooden jetty here reduces the walkout. It's an excellent site for diver training and night diving. The area is also well serviced with a dive shop, medical clinic and team of dive instructors.

Blue Beach - A dedicated diver's dream beach. Night diving here is magnificent (and easy) with Spanish Dancers a common sight plus electric rays and even frogfish. The beach offers no additional facilities.

The Pinnacles - Lots of interesting life can be seen on the pinnacles and an even more interesting underwater mound a bit further out at 30 meters.

Obhur Creek - Also known as Sharm Obhur and The Creek. This is a very under-rated site with beautiful diving.

Andulus Marina - The ultimate night dive spot. Fall off the jetty and that's it. Heavily patrolled by the coastguard.

Broken Dock - A great spot when the weather is rough outside. Loads of nudibranchs and seahorses.

North Corniche is a males only area with regular coastguard patrols.

South Corniche - There is fantastic diving north and south of the Desalination Plant. The walkouts are a bit longer than average (500m), but well worth it with sharks, turtles and a plethora of reef fish.

Rabigh District - Rabigh is located some 150km to the north of Jeddah. The town is reached easily along the new expressway that links Jeddah with Yanbu further up the coast.

Rabigh Beach at the southerly end of the peninsula contains the major coastguard building for the area. There are numerous locations along the length of the peninsula which allow access to either the sea to the west or to the inland bay that is created by the peninsula to the east. At the northern tip of the peninsula there is an open channel that helps 'wash out' the inland bay and it is also here that the best of the coral reefs are to be found, enabling both snorkelling close to the shore as well as more professional diving at greater depths away from the shore.
