Al-Qassim is world-famous for the variety, quality and sheer volume of dates produced here. The single largest date farm in the world is located in Al-Qassim.
The province has more than 2.5 million date palm trees growing 50 of the Kingdom's 65 date species. Dates are susceptible to climatic conditions and can very from region to region. Nubout sayf, sufri, barhi, sukkari, sullaj and khudhairi are the dates which make Al-Qassim famous.
Date City is a proposed project to be developed by the private sector and will focus on the production and processing of dates historically and at present. |
