Jebel Sheda is the highest summit in Al-Makhwah and attracts amateur climbers of all levels. It's a high mountain with rare rocky shapes sheltering many villages and a number of sites suitable for recreation and camping along the way. Monumental engravings are found at the foot of the climb. Electricity and telephone lines are available in the villages, otherwise it is a natural reserve and everything you need (including water) will need to be carried in. Amenities are available in the town of Qalwa 15 km away. Once on the summit, you can admire the view, or sample the locally grown coffee. There's a road leading to the summit for an easier access to the top.
Shefa Doos Al-Ayash is a very high site with an area of around 1 km sq overlooking wonderful valleys and villages. The view is excellent. There are no sewerage or showering facilities, but the rest of the utilities are available nearby. This is a site which will challenge all levels of ability.
Individuals will need to provide all their own sports gear and safety equipment, as well as food and other resources, including insurance.
As a general rule, you should always carry enough water for everyone in your party for a few days in case you get into trouble.
It is better to travel in groups, or at least pairs so that someone can go for help in an emergency.
Always ensure that someone knows your proposed itinerary and destination so that they can inform authorities if you do not return as expected.
Always check your shoes, clothes and sleeping bags for scorpions and spiders.
Adventure sports are only recommended for people who are already expert in these areas, or under the guidance of a trained expert. It is possible that you may be able to hire a local tour guide or sports professional through your hotel, local travel agency.
